We have another opportunity to join the h2u group for a day trip to take in the Cornbread Festival in S. Pittsburg, TN. While here, you can enjoy a craft show with over 70 vendors, a food court area with 25 food vendors, a car show, and tour the Lodge Cast Iron Foundry, which is only open for tours this one weekend a year. We will also visit the Lodge Cast Iron Skillet Outlet store too. Sounds like a fun day out to me! I’ve had a lot of requests for this trip. We’ve been going here at Christmas time for years, and somehow, we haven’t made our way here in the spring in years. Many want to see the Gardens in full bloom and that’s why we are going during their azalea festival. I make no promises on the timing of the blooms, but I can guarantee that you will love what you see in the gardens. We’ll begin with a stop at the beautiful Gardens Discovery Center where you can take in the pretty lake view, see a film about the history, and enjoy a pretty gift shop. We will try to time it so that we can see the Birds of Prey show while we are there, weather permitting. We’ll make our way around the gardens with stops at the lovely Day Butterfly House where you will be up close and personal with the butterflies. Afterwards we will make our way along the azalea trail around the gardens. You are in for a delightful treat of spectacular colors as we wind our way around the lake. Along the way, we will stop at the pretty Country Store to take in the gorgeous views and some shopping time too. Our lunch will be at the Plant Room and will feature a delicious southern style buffet. Callaway is stunning this time of year, so I hope you’ll take it all in!
