Mini Mystery to the Wetumpka, Alabama Area

Mini Mystery to the Wetumpka, Alabama Area

November 6-8, 2024
3 days/2 nights

Let’s head over to pretty Wetumpka for a wonderful little mini-mystery trip!   I’ll give you all the details of the fun we’re going to have in this town of about 7000 people.  It’s an adorable downtown.   Now the mystery is in the getting there and getting home that will be part of the unknown! All stops are planned with lots of fun in mind, great food, special visitors, and interesting stops too!  You’ll be pleasantly surprised by it all!

Most of you are familiar with Wetumpka, which is one of the towns that Ben and Erin Napier featured in the HGTV Hometown Takeover TV show.  You’ll learn how the town really rallied from the 2019 tornado that ripped through the area.  It was then that this community stepped in to get their town back up and running.  Then Ben and Erin came in 2021 and the rest is history.   This tour will focus on many of the sights that they helped them with.  More importantly, it became just the motivation for the area, and it’s now an Alabama Main Street town.  It’s absolutely charming!

Our time there will feature a guide that will give us a great tour of the history, including the Impact Craters that were here millions of years ago.  It gave the area, its unique geography and helped form what is now the Coosa River which is a focal point in all things downtown.  Stops will include:

  • A local church rebuilt after the tornado with its amazing story.
  • The sight of the new Fall Line Overlook, a community park along the River there.
  • The Big Fish House with its unique link to Hollywood!
  • The Kelly Fitzpatrick Center for the Arts, the new visual arts hub with its exhibit space and more.
  • Company Street shops that were the center of the renovations downtown. It’s so vibrant now!
  • The Farmer’s Market on the banks of the Coosa River. We’ll be there on Market Day!
  • Local murals were created with the help of the HGTV folks and are now a great continuing community project.
  • Dinner at the Coaches Corner Restaurant, a local spot with decks that overlook the river.
  • A visit to the Jeannette Barrett Civic Room, with its wonderful park setting……along the river!

This will be a great little getaway to Wetumpka and TWO more great communities in Alabama!

Hope you will join me in guessing where we are going!  See you on the bus!
