Roam Around Rome and Berry College
Thursday, April 27, 2017
You don’t have to go around the world to take in beautiful Rome, Georgia! We have a lovely day planned which starts with a driving tour ‘Between the Rivers’. This pretty college town is situated on three small rivers and our local guide will take us thru the Victorian district, around Myrtle Hill Cemetery, and to see the pretty City Clock Tower, which has watched over the city since 1872. While in town, we’ll enjoy an included lunch at a local family style restaurant on Broad Street. After we have roamed around Rome, we head off to tour the campus of Berry College. This lovely campus is home to some of the most beautiful architecture in the state. It was begun as an agricultural school, and now still has 26,000 acres. All students who go there are required to work on campus. We will also take in Oak Hill, and the Martha Berry Museum. It’s here that you’ll learn the evolution of the school into Berry College thru exhibits and permanent collections. The home is a Greek revival style, and is the former home of the founder of the college. Berry students lead the tours too. So join us among the foothills of pretty Rome!
