As requested, Memphis!
November 3-6, 2021
4 days and 3 nights
We’ll be staying three nights at the gorgeous Guesthouse Hotel, which is directly across the street from the Graceland complex. The rooms are incredible and the property is a really wonderful spot with beautiful public space, bars, restaurants, and generously sized rooms. We’ll be busy touring all the sites and enjoying this awesome place! I especially want to mention that the Elvis Presley’s Memphis Entertainment Complex has really been improved over the past several years. Including the home, there are 120 acres dedicated to sharing the life and legacy of this great American legend. Your admission ticket will include a tour of the Graceland mansion, the iconic home of Elvis Presley. A shuttle bus takes you to the home, and you’ll be given headsets that narrate all the stops along the way. This includes the home, the recording studio, the newly-enhanced Trophy Building, and the gravesites of Elvis and his family members at the Meditation Garden. Once you complete your home tour it’s time to head to the ‘NEW’ Elvis Experience. Here you will take in the Elvis The Entertainer Career Museum, the Presley Motors Automobile Museum, Elvis Discovery Exhibits, and Elvis Airplanes. Each of these immersive and interactive experiences is incredible! I’ve been to Graceland many, many times and the new exhibits were very well done. Once inside the complex, the buildings are all linked and easy to walk around. You will be totally impressed at the collections that they have on display.
Trip highlights include:
-Tour of Graceland mansion and the all-new museums at the Graceland Complex, as mentioned above! We’ll spend all day here and have lunch on-site too. Shuttles will be available for those folks who finish early and want to head back to the hotel.
-City tour of Memphis with a step-on guide. The plan is to head into the city at about 10:00, so you can have a leisurely morning. Once we’re in town you’ll have some free time on Beale Street, the vibrant entertainment district with lots of shops and restaurants. You can enjoy lunch on your own there. Afterward, a guide will join us for a great tour of the Blues City on the mighty Mississippi River. We will make several stops including a visit to the St. Jude Hospital Chapel, and the Peabody Hotel to see those famous ducks! You’ll also drive by Sun Studio, Johnny Cash’s local home, the Lorraine Motel, the Gibson Guitar factory, Stax Records, and so much more. After we see the ‘duck walk’ at about 5:00, we’ll stay in town for a great dinner downtown with entertainment, and then return to the hotel. You’ll love this town and the unique history that surrounds it!
This trip will be a lot of fun and you’ll really have time to take in the city, Graceland, and the wonderful hotel!
