Breakaway to the Beach!
King and Prince Resort, St. Simons Island, Georgia
May 23- 26, 2021 (Sunday-Wednesday)
4 days and 3 nights
It’s time to get the wheels on the bus rolling again as we head to this beautiful oceanfront resort. This upscale property is a 4-Star hotel with amazing amenities and a gorgeous location. While there, we will build in free time for you to enjoy the beach and the lovely outdoor areas that you can relax in. The pool area offers shaded spots as well as lawn chairs for your enjoyment. We all found ourselves out there a lot when we visited two years ago. You can enjoy a table and chairs for card games, as well as time in the pretty pool too. Each resort hotel room will be oceanfront front with a balcony, where you can take in the pool and ocean views. There are multiple areas to walk along the beach, and the walkways at the resort as well. I think it’s just the trip we need right now.
While at the resort, we will enjoy a full breakfast each morning in a private dining room. We’ll also have a plated dinner one night as well. They currently do ask that you wear a mask in the lobby and in the gift shop, but otherwise masks as not required on the resort grounds. (This may all change, depending on state regulations.)
Our trip will also allow us some free time in downtown for shopping and walking along the pretty pier and waterfront park. We’ll also have an included lunch too. We will also tour some of the Island so that you can take in some of the sites and the beautiful scenery too. From the Spanish moss that drapes the Live Oak Trees, to the marshes that we pass, you’ll love this time there. Free time at the resort follows!!
We will also visit nearby Jekyll Island, with its natural scenery and beach views. Our tour there will take us around the island with a stop at scenic Driftwood Beach. It’s one of the most photographed spots along the Georgia coast. We’ll enjoy a delicious buffet at the historic Jekyll Island Club with its elegant dining room and incredible service. You’ll have a little time thereafter lunch to take in the resort, shop among the ‘homes’, and walk in the historic district adjacent to the club. There is also a lovely pier there which you can walk to and take in the marsh views. We’ll return to our resort for free time that afternoon.
On our way home, it’s time for lunch at Skippers Seafood in Darian, with its pretty riverfront location. This restaurant has become a favorite of ours, and I’m excited to be able to go to it again! Known as the shrimp capital of Georgia, this charming town is the second oldest town in the state.
This is a really pretty trip to a beautiful, upscale beachfront resort. You’ll have time to enjoy some time together on our tours, and have time to enjoy the beach and the resort too. It’s truly a wonderful place to get away to, and the perfect place for us to visit! (Please note – I will do my very best to stick to this itinerary; touring times and locations may change, but I will keep you posted if anything comes up. Your health and safety are the most important thing about this trip!)
Masks will not be required on the bus at this time, but this is subject to change.
