Hometowns and Gardens of Mississippi Featuring Laurel, The HGTV ‘Hometown’

March 15-17, 2022
3 days and 2 nights

We have traveled many miles in this fine state, and I’m excited to offer this fun trip to an area that will be new to us, but loved by many!  If you are a fan of the HGTV ‘Hometown’ series with Erin and Ben Napier, you will love this trip.   We will stay two nights here and soak in all this lovely small-town has to offer!

We’ll begin with a stop outside Birmingham with a visit to the lovely Aldridge Gardens.  This pretty lakeside park will be so beautiful this time of year.  A delicious, included lunch will be catered in for us that day. I have rented a covered pavilion that is tucked into the trees of this pretty park for our picnic! This gorgeous spot should be just about picture-perfect during this time of year with its lovely lakefront location.  You are sure to enjoy it!  It’s just the right size too, with its paved walkways and scenic location.  I think you will really love it, I know I did!

Upon arriving in Laurel, we will take some time to relax a minute at the hotel before we head out to our included dinner at a local favorite for dinner.  Then it’s time to rest up for our busy day tomorrow!

We have a wonderful guide who will step onboard to give us an overview of the downtown.  He is a local and has watched firsthand the transformation of this quaint town!  He will point out all the sights that make the show so fun to watch.  Afterward, you’ll have free time to take in the shops that line Main Street.  You’ll love how this town has been re-invented by Ben and Erin!  They are a wonderfully talented duo; she is a graphic designer and artist, and he is a very talented woodworker.    We will have time to visit both their shops in town.  Hers is the Laurel Mercantile and he is the Scotsman General Store and Workshop.  I’m not promising that we will see them, but we sure will recognize a lot about the area.  What I love about their shops is they feature only items made in the USA!  You’ll also have time to take in lunch on your own at one of the great restaurants in town too.   I want to go to Pearl’s!  Not to be missed is the Lauren Rogers Museum of Art, and we will make a stop there too!  It’s a local landmark.

On our way home we will stop near downtown Birmingham for a wonderful included lunch at the Arlington Home and Garden.  It is a spectacular stop with an incredible 2 story home, gorgeous gardens, outbuildings, and a wonderful lunch spot too!  They only serve lunch to groups during the week, so I’m so happy their chef has agreed to fix lunch for us!  It is served with style and grace, and I think you’ll find it to be delicious!  Enjoy this spot!  Now, if all goes as planned, we will make a quick stop in Wetumpka to see how Ben and Erin transformed this cute little town too!  We’ll make a quick driving tour and make picture stops too!  It should be great fun!

This will be a lovely springtime trip with so much to see and do!  Come join us for this hometown special!
