You will absolutely LOVE this amazing city!  The village of Greenville began in 1795 and is named after the Revolutionary General Nathanael Greene.  By the mid 1800’s, it was booming with textile mills and brickwork, all housed on the banks of the Reedy River.  It is rich in history and has reinvented its downtown to weave in the history, yet it provides a new contemporary city park, which is fantastic!  You’ll see their story come alive when we visit the Falls Park on the Reedy Park.  A tumble of waterfalls from the river is seen all around town, and you’ll have a chance to walk across the river on its famous Liberty Bridge.  This pedestrian bridge is a real showpiece for them!  Truly lovely.  You’ll also have time to enjoy walking along the 11-block Main Street.  There’s a great collection of boutiques, retailers, coffee shops, restaurants, galleries, and more.  You’ll see why it’s now one of South Carolina’s most livable cities.  While in town, a knowledgeable guide will take us on a driving tour of downtown and several other spots that highlight their history.  He’s really terrific, and his stories are fun to listen to.   This should be a fun day out with a great guided tour, free time in the park, and downtown, where you can explore and enjoy lunch on your own.  And did I mention that Duke’s Mayonnaise started here?  Eugenia Duke’s story is amazing to hear!   How about Shoeless Joe Jackson?
