Booth Museum of Western Art, Cartersville, GA Featuring a special exhibit of Western Costumes from the Silver Screen!

This promises to be a fantastic day out!  Even if you are not a museum person you will LOVE this one!  It’s one of the finest museums in the state and houses fantastic private collections of Western art throughout.   There are permanent displays with paintings, photography, sculpture, pottery, Native American art and artifacts, a presidential collection, and a fine group of Western Cinema items too.   There’s even a stagecoach!   It’s very easy to get around and the incredible building never feels crowded.  It’s truly a rare gem!  Of special interest is the John Davey Western Costumes from the Silver Screen special exhibit.  He is a collector of Hollywood memorabilia and has assembled an awesome exhibit of 24 iconic clothing pieces worn by folks like Elizabeth Taylor, John Wayne, and Gene Tierney.  There are also personal items, movie posters, theater cards, and photographs from this golden era of Western cinema.  It sounds like a fantastic collection to see!  The fun part about this trip is a visit to the vibrant downtown of Cartersville.   You’ll have free time for lunch on your own and will find plenty of places to eat.   There are great boutiques, and galleries too.  It’s flat and is very walkable – a truly wonderful downtown for all to enjoy!  Hope you’ll join us for this outstanding day trip!
