Fall On The Blue Ridge Parkway featuring Boone and Blowing Rock, North Carolina

There is nothing more special than to see all the wonderful colors of fall along the Blue Ridge Parkway!  It’s is absolutely stunning!  Our tour will be set in pretty Boone, NC; a college town and the perfect spot to ‘hub and spoke’ around the area.   It will give us just the right location to take in all the colors and keep us close enough to visit some really great spots!  Our highlights will include:

• A visit to West Jefferson, which is the home to a local cheese factory. You’ll be able to view the cheese-making process, and visit their incredible cheese shop too! 
• A visit to a lovely roadside church where we will see the frescos painted there over a century ago. It’s a wonderful story and their local guide will give us all the details.
• A visit to Blowing Rock Park, where you’ll hear the story of the famed princess and her fate on ‘Blowing Rock’. It’s a beautiful park and offers stunning views of the mountains!
• Free time in the same town which is full of wonderful shops, galleries and restaurants. You’ll have time to take them all in.  It’s very walkable there as well.
• An included dinner at a locally owned restaurant where we’ll have a tasty meal together.
• A day on the Blue Ridge Parkway where we start with a visit to the famed Linn Cove Viaduct, the most photographed spot on the Parkway in North Carolina. You can tour the visitor center and then take a short walk UNDER the Viaduct for an amazing view and experience.
• A stop at the Moses Cone Memorial Park with its lovely 1890s mansion built by a local textile producer. This has incredible valley views from its lovely front porch.   It also has an amazing gift shop that features handmade items from crafters from North Carolina.
• A visit to Alta Pass Orchards, nestled along the side of the mountains, offering us another breathtaking view! We’ll be treated to a tasty lunch while there.  Be sure to shop for apples too!
• Dinner will be served at the delicious family-style Daniel Boone Inn Restaurant. It’s a real treat!
• A visit to the lovely Valle Cruis community. It’s like a step back in time along this road and it’s here that the original Mast General Store started.  It’s a true general store complete with a pot-bellied stove and an amazing shop too!  This place is the real deal!
• We’ll finish the tour with a great lunch spot just off the Parkway, and then make our way home.
